ALLEGATIONS OF DEROGATORY STATEMENT POSTED BY BROADBAND INFRACO EMPLOYEE
Although Broadband Infraco advocates the right to freedom of speech and expression, including via the usage of social media platforms, Broadband Infraco encourages its employees to do so in a responsible manner consistent with the Company’s policies.
Broadband Infraco is aware of the allegation that one of its employees recently posted an allegedly derogatory statement perceived to be directed at the Minister of Corporate Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) on a social media platform.
Although Broadband Infraco advocates the right to freedom of speech and expression, including via the usage of social media platforms, Broadband Infraco encourages its employees to do so in a responsible manner consistent with the Company’s policies.
Broadband Infraco distances itself from the alleged remarks as they do not reflect the Company’s values and what the Company stands for.
Broadband Infraco strongly discourages the usage of social media platforms in a manner that could be viewed as inappropriate and hurtful to others.
Broadband Infraco has sought legal advice on the implications of the social media post mentioned above. Broadband Infraco is also, in accordance with its policies, undertaking an internal investigation to determine the veracity of the allegations against the affected employee.
Should Broadband Infraco find that the employee contravened Company policies, swift and appropriate action will be taken in this regard.
