Broadband Infraco, a long distance national and international optic fibre connectivity network infrastructure provider based at its head office in Woodmead, has the following opportunity:


Reporting to the Senior Specialist Transmission (NOC), the incumbent will be required to:

  • Configuration of SA Connect Transmission network and service provisioning.
  • SA Connect end-to-end ethernet service testing and ensuring that the results thereof adheres to required standards.
  • Provide High-Level technical support for Broadband Infraco
  • Telecommunications Transport systems (SDH, DWDM, OTN and related network management systems) carrying SA Connect traffic.
  • Provide High level technical support for affected Transmission system during project implementation phases.
  • Realisation of all transmission technical support activities according to customer service level agreement (SLA) once in operations.
  • SA Connect Transmission network performance analysis and reporting.
  • SA Connect project bandwidth utilisation management and provide inputs towards transmission network upgrade requirements.
  • Understanding of transmission network DCN configuration and planning thereof
  • Provide technical specialist support to Operations & Maintenance, Sales, Network Engineering and Capital Projects colleagues for SA Connect project
  • Special investigations to resolve recurrent faults affecting access and core network performance.


Qualification, Skills and Experience

  • The candidate must possess a minimum qualification of National Diploma or an equivalent qualification in Electrical or Computer Systems Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Telecommunications Network operations and implementation
  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of SDH, DWDM, OTN, IP technologies and related Network Management systems (NMS).
  • Attention to detail, initiative, Adaptability, high stress tolerance and team work.
