Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance, the incumbent will:

• The incumbent will be required to oversee the process of analysing the network in terms of capacity, reliability and sustainability. Must provide technical support to regional staff.
• Implement regional Preventative Routine Maintenance plan. Commission and confirm quality standard and compliance of newly installed equipment and outdoor infrastructure to all BBI standards and specifications.
• Conduct root cause analysis by analysing information to implement mitigation plan or strategy to prevent repetitive occurrence of network failures. Compile reports and make recommendations on the technical approach to be adopted.
• Develop a regional planned maintenance strategy/plan in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders.
• Draft, implement and monitor procedures, policies and work instructions to add value to network maintenance activities and practices.
• Responsible for internal training/awareness sessions to improve staff operational efficiency, knowledge and technical skills.
• Must be willing to work long hours.

Qualifications  and Experience:

• Must have B.Tech/B.Eng, S4/T3 National Diploma or N6 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (HC/LC) or equivalent.
• Registration with ECSA will be an advantage.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, particularly in network maintenance.
• Be familiar with ITU-T Standards.
• Have in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of: Optical fibre, Transmission equipment, IP configuration, AC/DC power systems, Environmental alarm monitoring systems, Test equipment (OTDR, OLTS, etc.) Fusion splicing, Interpretation of test results and the provision of optimum solutions
• Microsoft Office 365, strong in applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
