Broadband Infraco, a long distance national and international optic fibre connectivity network infrastructure provider based in Radiokop, seeks to appoint a suitable candidate to the following employment opportunity:
TECHNICIAN (CAPE TOWN)
12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT (SA-CONNECT PROJECT)
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor: Operations and Maintenance, the incumbent will:
- Be required to engage in the process of maintaining network in terms of capacity, reliability, and sustainability.
- Conduct site surveys, assist with installations at facilities, assist with site space acquisition, service testing (Layer 2 and 3), and conduct quality inspections on the SA Connect project.
- Support CPM in coordinating project management activities, resources, and information throughout the project life cycle with all deliverables.
- Installation, commission, confirm quality standard and compliance of newly installed equipment and outdoor infrastructure to all BBI standard and specifications.
- He/she must have in depth theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of fibre optic, transmission equipment, DC power systems, IP configurations, alarms monitoring systems with advanced analytical skills for the analysis of faults, the interpretation of test results and the provision of optimum solutions.
- Asset management and verification.
- He/she must be willing to work long hours.
Qualification and Experience:
- Candidates must have BTech/BEng, N6 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (HC/LC) or equivalent.
- Registration with ECSA will be an advantage.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, particularly in network maintenance.
- Have in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of: Fibre optic. Transmission equipment. IP configuration. AC/DC power systems. Environmental alarm monitoring systems. Test equipment (OTDR, OLTS, etc.). Fusion splicing. Interpretation of test results and the provision of optimum solutions.
- Microsoft Office 365, strong in applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Be familiar with ITU-T Standards.
- Valid driver’s licence is a requirement.
